The University of Cyprus Library in collaboration with the Public Library of Strovolos invites you to the webinar of Dr. Katerina Zourou entitled “Citizen Science: The role of librarians”

Date:     October 25, 2022

Venue:  Zoom

Time:    10:00 am – 11:30 am

Audience: Librarians

The speech will be held in the Greel language.

By highlighting the role of librarians in fostering reseach and open science, this presentation focuses on libraries as hubs of active citizenship enhancement in their communities. In this context, we will explore forms of collective action and citizen engagement that promote open science and that are best known as citizen science.

This presentation, which will take the form of an interactive workshop, will foster dialogue on the opportunities for raising citizens who will actively participate in issues of local as well as of international scale (i.e. social inequalities, climate change, biodiversity loss). The role of librarians will be set in the centre of this discussion, as they are seen as the connecting link between citizens, researchers and civil society actors.
